In art class on Thursday, my class was asked to draw a still life. I saw the hot glue gun as a challenge, but a welcome one. The slopes were initially difficult for me to transfer onto paper, but it became easier and more familiar with each movement of my pencil. Shading has always been difficult for me, and this still life exercise has really helped me to improve. This is still a work in progress, but I hope that it continues to help me improve.
Class
This week has really helped me to improve on my basic skills. We started off on Monday with a competition in which we had to use unfamiliar materials, such as styrofoam plates or rope, to exemplify a theme. This really helped me exercise outside the box thinking, which I have always struggled with. On Tuesday we worked on drawing with a vanishing point, and Wednesday was spent working on forced perspective. Both helped me to gain a better understanding of space and how to use it.
